This was my first sketch for what i would do with my magazine. it does not have alot of detail and is simply to show a layout

 

With my magazine i tried to go with a similar colour scheme throught, i aimed to have a aestheticaly pleasing design which was simple but still strong and stands out. I used Adobe Photoshop to make the cover deisgn and also the contents page but the inside page was created using Adobe InDesign which is a piece of software i was not acustomed to using.  Due to this, my inside page is not to the same standard as my other two designs. with the titles on the front cover and the contents page i tryed to go with a similar design of a beveled font with a slight Outer Glow for emphasis. on the contents page i like how i layed the word Contents over the main titles with a diffrent, hand written looking font. The photos main photo of Harry was shot infront of a white screen then i removed the background using the Quick Selection Tool and this seemed to work very well, despite this i have to touch it up slightly using the eraser tool to remove some small pieces of background and glow such as on the clothing and the hair. 


I used only 5 diffrent fonts in the making of my magazine, these fonts are Slant, Bebas, Kimberly, Ariel and Brush Script MT. These are all strong looking font with no eroded edges so they look clean and precised. This runs with the overall theme of a smart, bold design which draws the eyes of the reader. The kind of person my magazine is aimed at is the averade college student who is  wanting to keep up to date with what is happening. The magazine could also be marketed towards parents of those students and possibly others.


The magazine would be distrubuted by the college student council and would be popular amongst the student as a way to keep up to date with current affairs. The magazine could be a free publication or could be sold for a small price and the money could go to a local charity such as the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham. This would also show the college as caring for the community which would make it look even more appealing to new students and people in the community alike. 


Becasue of this, i think my magazine design was a success overall and i think it would make a good college magazine for students and parents and people in the local community.
